ABOUT THEATRE ROYAL’S RISING STARS YOUTH THEATRE

Theatre Royal’s Rising Stars Youth Theatre was established in February 2024 to continue on from the former youth programme Theatre Royal Youth (from 2018), which in itself was originally Second Star Youth Theatre (from 2014-2018).

In October 2014, Millie was approached by Workington Theatre Royal to start up a youth theatre in a similar model to her successful youth theatre Happy Thoughts Drama Company. Millie rose to the challenge and ‘Theatre Royal’s Second Star Youth Theatre’ was born. Three years and 11 shows later, in July 2017, Millie handed over the reins to her protege Georgia Douglas-Brown. The youth theatre was renamed Theatre Royal Youth (TRY). 7 shows were performed under this name until Georgia, too, moved away in 2022.

Theatre Royal’s youth quarter fell silent… until Millie returned in 2024.

Now Theatre Royal’s Rising Stars Youth Theatre is here and, with your help, here to stay! Through a series of full stage productions, rehearsed readings, and Play in a Day workshops we have established a strong group of performers who will hopefully represent the future of Theatre Royal Workington.

We are very excited to see what the future holds.

We are always looking for new members to join in our fantastic youth theatre!

If you know anyone aged 9-18 who would like to join us please get in touch!
