2017 March The Beauty Queen of Leenane

Written by Martin McDonagh
21st – 25th March 2018
Directed by Brian Young

Set in the mountains of Connemara, The Beauty Queen of Leenane tells the story of Maureen Folan, a plain, lonely spinster in her early forties, who has spent much of her adult life caring for Mag, her manipulative, 70-year-old mother. Mag’s interference in Maureen’s first (and possibly last) romantic relationship triggers a chain of events that are as tragically funny as they are horrific.

This tale of thwarted dreams mixes melodrama and black comedy, revealing the harsh realities of life in rural Ireland.
