Product Description Yoshino Hide (nickname Hideyoshi) is your average, everyday teenager - interested only in fashion, snacks and her afterschool free time. And destined to fail her next history test without some sort of miraculous intervention. So, she stops by the local shrine to offer up a prayer or two to any deity that might be listening. But her prayers are interrupted by a mysterious blue light that engulfs her and leaves Hideyoshi stranded in a strange new world that appears to be feudal Japan. Only, all the inhabitants of this world, including feudal warlord Oda Nobunaga, are women! Now Hideyoshi finds herself on a quest to gather the pieces of the Crimson Armor and help Nobunaga conquer the land! Amazon.com Yoshino Hide, the heroine of Battle Girls: Time Paradox (2011), is a self-proclaimed normal middle school girl, interested only in fashion, snacks, and texting her friends. When she visits a nearby shrine, hoping to obtain some luck to help her in class, she sees a mysterious light and falls into a weird version of the Warring States period of Japanese history. In this alternate reality, all the characters are female, except for a talking dog named Shiro. Oda Nobunaga--an overendowed redhead with a Victoria's Secret costume--is seeking the scattered pieces of the legendary Crimson Armor, which she thinks will give her the power to conquer Japan. Nobunaga decides Hide is cute and makes her a trusted retainer; Hide addresses her as "My Lord," despite the obvious contradiction. Hide doesn't understand what's going on but somehow manages to come out on top of any situation she stumbles into. Ieyasu Tokugawa (also a girl) captures the Crimson Armor and threatens to wreak havoc on Japan until Nobunaga and her allies defeat her amid a welter of pedestrian effects. Battle Girls: Time Paradox is based on a historical pachinko game, which may account for the shallowness of the story. Most of the show plays like an episode of Sengoku Basara reenacted by the cast of Slayers. Many anime series center on klutzy, not overly bright schoolgirls who insist they'll never give up, but Hide comes across as a whiny, vapid twit. However, viewers in search of fan service scenes will enjoy seeing Nobunaga all but falling out of her skimpy top.
